COURSE INTRODUCTION
The Level 4 Obesity and Diabetes Certificate is designed to allow you to work closely with clinicians and others within the medical community.
This course trains learners to a professionally competent level, enabling them to plan, conduct and review programmes to address the needs of clients with obesity and/or diabetes. Enabling them to support clients to change their eating behaviours to aid in the management of obesity and/or diabetes.
You’ll gain the highly sought-after skills to devise and deliver exercise programmes for those with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, or clinical obesity.
The course is also perfectly suited for fitness instructors and personal trainers looking to expand their client base within this growing demographic.

Do I need any existing qualifications before enrolling?
Trainees must hold a Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training (or equivalent) as well as a Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral.
What do I learn during the course?
Course Objectives
- To develop an understanding of the prevalence and classification of obesity and diabetes
- To be able to determine obesity-related health risk • To understand the contributing factors that lead to the development of obesity and diabetes
- To apply appropriate training approaches to plan and design physical activity and exercise programmes for clients with obesity and/or diabetes
- To understand how medications, psychological/sociological factors and co-morbidities affect an obese and/or diabetic client’s ability to exercise safely and effectively
- To be able to support clients to adopt healthier eating behaviours as part of a programme to manage obesity and/or diabetes
How long does this qualification take to complete?
This qualification takes approximately 6 months to complete.
How will I be assessed?
This qualification is assessed by the following methods:
- Portfolio of Achievement (LAP)
How much does the qualification cost?
This qualification can be paid by one of the following methods:
- Upfront via a single payment of £599
- Via a payment plan of 4 x £200 monthly instalments

Once qualified, what's next?
Upon successful completion of your qualification and full payments received your certificates will be released.
